Rob Smith

Rob is a Registered Clinical Social Worker in the Province of BC who is excited to bring his counselling skills (Cognitive BehaviouralDialectical Behavioral Therapies) to Squamish Integrated Health to work with clients who find anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep and pain problems interfering with experiencing a better life.

He has studied at McMaster and Toronto Universities and has acquired advanced skills in evidence-based treatments (CBT, DBT) for a variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties.  Since coming to BC in 1991 he has worked for the Health Authority and for the Provincial Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Program as a Team Leader, Clinical Supervisor and Senior Practitioner. He has completed the advanced training program in DBT and is acknowledged by Behavioural Tech LLC as a Senior DBT Mentor in BC. Throughout his career he has delivered many trainings to various groups in various aspects of DBT (Individual Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, Inter-Personal Skills), has participated in a number of consultation teams as a therapist and has provided consultation to a number developing DBT teams. He has also employed these skills at PT Health in Squamish, in their multi-disciplinary Occupational Rehabilitation Program for those returning to work after a work-related injury. Since coming to Squamish, Rob has enjoyed activities such as martial arts, yoga, photography and being outside and now finds his time increasingly absorbed in music of all kinds.
